#LancsBox X allows users to work with metadata in a wide range of ways. This allows users to sort and explore data with significantly more control.
One way in which metadata can be utilised is through the concordance tables in the KWIC tool. Columns can be added according to the needs of the user, and each column can be used to sort and filter data in order to display relevant information.
To add or remove a column, click on the table settings menu () and choose options from the “Columns” submenu.
To sort the data, left click on the heading of any column. Left clicking once will sort the data alphabetically (or chronologically for dates) based on the data in that column. Clicking a second time will reverse the order, displaying results in reverse alphabetical order. Clicking a column header a third time will remove the sort function and the results will revert back to their default order. Alternatively, left clicking on a different column heading will remove the previous sort function and sort the data again according to the new criteria.
Filters can also be applied to both linguistic and metalinguistic columns. An overview of how to filter results it provided here.
